National President Kos Sclavos recorded this online presentation on GuildCare on 25 March 2011. It gives an overview of the IT enabled professional programs which facilitate easy implementation of the Pharmacy Practice Incentives available in the Fifth Community Pharmacy Agreement.
Community pharmacies all over Australia will now have access to six (6) Pharmacy Practice Incentives (PPIs) which will lead to improved health outcomes for Australian consumers.
The Guild through its own 100% owned subsidiary healthlinks.net is offering a new IT package that will assist to easily implement these PPIs. The GuildCare suite of programs will facilitate the requirements of four of the Practice Incentive Programs.
For the Guild the incentives are just the beginning. We need to deliver outcomes in these programs that will allow the Guild to successfully negotiate long term funding into the future. As part of our vision to facilitate the better use of medicines, we are committed to introducing technologies to detect patients who will benefit, deliver the service more efficiently and accurately document the outcome. GuildCare programs will deliver just that. The software will be made available by our wholly-owned subsidiary company healthlinks.net, a multifaceted provider of medicines and patient information systems. It is driven by the vision of “powering the better use of medicines.”

Eligible pharmacies, which register before 30 June 2011, will receive significant once-only start-up payments, and a range of quarterly and annual payments throughout the course of the Fifth Community Pharmacy Agreement, subject to them maintaining their eligibility.
The Pharmacy Practice Incentives cover six priority areas: Dose Administration Aids; Clinical Interventions; Staged Supply; Primary Health Care, including disease state management and health promotion; Community Services Support; and Working with Others, which involves documented collaboration with other health professional groups.
Start –up payments are available for eligible pharmacies registered before 30 June 2011 for the following three priority areas: Dose Administration Aids (approx. $1800); Clinical Interventions (approx. $3,400); and Staged Supply (approx. $1300). The start-up payments are approximate because they will vary depending on the total number of pharmacies that choose to participate.
The remaining PPI priority areas are programs that are migrating from existing QCPP incentives. Up to 30 June 2011 pharmacies accredited under QCPP will be eligible to receive a Quality Maintenance Allowance (QMA) payment from Medicare Australia. There will then be a transition to new practice incentive payment arrangements from 1 July 2011. These will be paid for meeting the performance requirements of QCPP for specific services delivered under Primary Health Care, Community Services Support, and Working with Others. There will no longer be a payment for your pharmacy merely being quality accredited.
