Pharmacy Needle and Syringe Program

 

QLD pharmacies are well supported in offering NSP services from the Pharmacy Guild.

 

It is a simple process that involves purchasing injecting equipment from your wholesaler and selling it from your pharmacy like any other retail stock.

 

Pharmacy staff are provided with free training on the delivery of the service which covers topics such as Workplace Health and Safety, Blood Borne Viruses and Disposal.  This training can be offered to your staff at your convenience. More info >> 

 

 

Pharmacy Disposal Initiative

 

Sharps are used by a diverse range of people in the community, including illicit drug users, people with diabetes, therapeutic injectors and professional businesses.

 

The Pharmacy Disposal Initiative offers FREE for all QLD pharmacies:

 

  • 19 litre disposal unit
  • Collection by a contractor
  • Transport of the disposal unit
  • Incineration

Pharmacy Opioid Treatment Program

 

The Pharmacy Guild provides support, advice and training for pharmacies currently dispensing or those wishing to offer drug treatment pharmacotherapies such as methadone and buprenorphine.

 

This is an integral service for members of the community which you can play a role in providing.
