Medicinal Cannabis in Community Pharmacy

As patients continue to seek additional options to better manage their chronic conditions, there is growing interest in the role and effectiveness of medicinal cannabis.

This online module is the opportunity for pharmacists to build a strong foundation in understanding the current landscape regarding medicinal cannabis including current evidence and the practical aspects of dispensing medicinal cannabis in community pharmacy.

This course aims to provide pharmacists with the understanding of the following topics:

  • The THC and CBD on the endocannabinoid system;
  • Different dosage forms and presentations of medicinal cannabis;
  • Current indications for medical cannabis and the current evidence for their therapeutic use;
  • Commonwealth and state/territory specific and regulatory requirements to prescribe and dispense medicinal cannabis across Australia;
  • Financial involvement to the pharmacy and the patient.
