Blended Mental Health First Aid in the Pharmacy

As the most accessible health professionals, all community pharmacists and staff will provide care to people experiencing mental health problems. Send your staff to Blended Mental Health First Aid in the Pharmacy to ensure they have the skills, knowledge and support to provide the best possible care for their customers and co-workers.


Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.

Blended MHFA in the Pharmacy is a combination of a self-paced, 6hour online (eLearning) course with a follow-on 4 hour face-to-face session. Using case studies, videos and resources tailored to the needs of community pharmacists and staff, participants will learn:

  • How to recognise signs and symptoms of mental health problems and crises
  • Risk factors and appropriate evidence-based treatments and supports
  • How to respond and offer appropriate support using the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan

Following successful completion of a short online accreditation assessment, participants will receive a Mental Health First Aider certificates of accreditation valid for 3 years.

This course is open to all pharmacists and pharmacy staff within NSW.
