Cold Chain Testing Centre

Cold Chain Management in Community Pharmacy

An essential component of good pharmacy practice is the correct monitoring of community pharmacy refrigeration to ensure that temperature-sensitive products such as vaccines and insulin are stored at appropriate temperatures.

The stability of vaccines is dependent upon refrigeration storage control. Vaccines should be stored at temperatures between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius. In Australia, freezing of vaccines has been shown to be the major cause of vaccine damage in both tropical and temperate climates.

Cold Chain Testing Centre – Data Logging Service

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s NSW Branch manages the operations of the Cold Chain Testing Centre.

The Cold Chain Testing Centre provides a competitively priced data logging service to assist community pharmacies in achieving best practice principles in relation to cold chain management. This paid service is provided to seek to verify cold chain efficiency within the community pharmacy environment, and to provide verifying documentation to support accreditation under the Quality Care Pharmacy Program (QCPP).
