Urinary Tract Infection Pharmacy Pilot - Queensland

Pilot Overview

Following on from Recommendation Two in the 2018 Parliamentary Inquiry into Community Pharmacy, the Queensland Department of Health endorsed the development of a pilot that will allow trained community pharmacists to provide appropriate treatment for uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is the lead organisation in a consortium comprising of all pharmacy schools in Queensland (University of Queensland, James Cook University and Griffith University) as well as international pharmacy research experts (New Zealand, Canada) and the two pharmacy professional bodies – the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Queensland and the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, Queensland.

GuildLink is the UTIPP-Q software partner utilising GuildCare NG to capture service data for research evaluation.

How to Participate

The pilot is open to all Queensland pharmacies that are accredited through the Quality Care Pharmacy Program (QCPP).

It's not too late to register your pharmacy to participate! Please complete this form. Important! The owner, or a delegate of the owner, must also complete the QUT Pharmacy Site Consent.

Pharmacist Training

All pharmacists participating in the UTIPP-Q must complete the mandatory online training. Important! All pharmacists must also complete the QUT Pharmacist Consent Form.
