Pharmacy Guild Immunisation Course - CPD Information

Learning objectives:
- Recognise the background to immunisation as a public health measure, including the body’s response to vaccination, and the role of immunisation in public health across a number of population groups
- Recognise immunisation requirements across the age continuum, including the National Immunisation Program
- Recognise the importance of recording immunisations
- Recognise the risks associated with a number of vaccine preventable diseases on the NIP, including the vaccination requirements in the community and vaccine administration requirements (contraindications, storage and administration)
- Identify the occupational requirements of pharmacists administering vaccines, including cold chain management, risk management, procedures and jurisdictional requirements
- Recognise the appropriate procedures for preparing and administering vaccines for children and adults, including consent, positioning, identifying injection sites , appropriate pre-screening and recording of vaccinations
- Recognise the appropriate procedures for preparing and administering vaccines for children, including positioning, identifying injection sites and development of catch-up schedules
- Identify appropriate after-care following immunisation, including recognition of adverse events following immunisation and anaphylaxis response
This activity has been accredited for 21 hours of Group 1 CPD (or 21 CPD credits) suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan which can be converted to 21 hours of Group 2 CPD (or 42 CPD credits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities.
