Working together

Date: 14 December 2016

A new agreement between the Pharmacy Guild of Australia and the Medical Software Industry Association MSIA creates a framework for both organisations to work together for the benefit of their respective members over the next five years.

A Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations was signed by Guild National President, George Tambassis, Executive Director, David Quilty and the MSIA President, Emma Hossack.

The Guild is a national employers’ organisation servicing the needs of its members who are proprietors of community pharmacies throughout Australia. MSIA represents the interests of the Australian commercial software industry which develops, supplies and services information management products and services for healthcare practitioners, healthcare service providers and healthcare organisations.

The Guild and MSIA share a common objective to support community pharmacies in performing their role - delivering medicines and services to patients - through the provision of software specifically developed and tailored to meet the needs of the pharmacy industry.

The Guild and MSIA are committed to working co-operatively together in areas of mutual interest, including:

  • Digital Health
  • Guild data strategy
  • PBS/RPBS changes
  • Promoting collaborative achievements
  • The next Community Pharmacy Agreement

The executive officers of both organisations will meet face to face at least once a year to discuss strategic matters of mutual interest.
