Sixth Community Pharmacy Agreement
6CPA program changes from 1 July 2017
The Government will provide $825 million over three years, from 2017-18, to community pharmacies to support and improve Australians’ access to medicines, under the Improving Access to Medicines – support for community pharmacies measure. This includes $600 million through the Sixth Community Pharmacy Agreement (6CPA) to continue existing community pharmacy programs and enable pharmacists to deliver new and expanded medication management services for Australians who need additional assistance to manage their medications.
The following pharmacy programs have been redesigned to support the collection of information to assist with assessment of the effectiveness of these services.
- Dose administration aids
- Staged supply
- MedsChecks
- Diabetes MedsChecks
- Home medicines review program
- Pharmacy trial program
All other 6CPA Programs will continue from 1 July 2017 in their current format pending the outcomes of program assessments/evaluations.

Sixth Community Pharmacy Agreement
The Sixth Community Pharmacy Agreement (6CPA) was signed on 25 May 2015 to take effect from 1 July 2015.

Key features of the 6CPA include:
- Dispensing remuneration indexed to the Consumer Price Index
- An increased investment in community pharmacy programs and services
- A Government commitment to extend the Location Rules until mid-2020, with an independent review to be conducted during the 6CPA to inform future arrangements.
