Proposed codeine re-scheduling

From 1 February 2018, all pain and cough and cold medicines containing codeine which were previously available as S2 or S3 medicines will be up-scheduled to S4 (Prescription Only Medicine).

This will affect the 80 per cent of Australians who use these medicines occasionally to relieve short-term acute pain and the 20 per cent or so who use them more regularly for chronic pain.

Download the 'Changes to medicines containing codeine - what pharmacists need to know' to find out more.

We also have a flyer available for members, that you can give to your patients who want to know more about the changes in Codeine.
