The first Guild Member Census since 2012 is now live, providing an important opportunity to build a current and comprehensive picture of community pharmacy in Australia. The Census will gather essential information from Guild members to ensure the Guild has an accurate understanding of operational realities, workforce needs and emerging opportunities across the sector.

Your participation will ensure your voice is heard. It will empower the Guild’s ability to deliver real value to you and your business by way of strong advocacy, evidence-based workforce planning and tailored member benefits that deliver maximum impact for you and your team.

Who should complete the Census?

Each pharmacy premises requires a separate Census. Only one Census should be completed per premises.

If you are part of an ownership group, nominate one representative to complete the Census for each premises. A member of staff can complete the Census on your behalf provided they have the required information available and are an approved staff delegate. To confirm or update your Staff Delegate, please contact your local branch.

What will the Census cover?

The Census collects information across five key areas about how community pharmacies are operating today.

The survey takes approximately 25-30 minutesto complete. Most questions ask for ranges or approximate figures.

1. Member Profile

This section confirms your pharmacy and ownership details to ensure Guild records and Find a Pharmacy listings are accurate.

You will need:

  • ABN and PBS approval number
  • Owner details (including AHPRA ID)
  • Banner or management group name/s
  • Booking URL, website and patient-facing email
  • QCPP status
  • Date pharmacy purchased
  • Year first registered with the Guild

2. Services & Clinical Practice

This section captures the services you provide, participation in key programs and general dispensing activity during the 2025 calendar year.

You will need:

  • A list of services & programs provided (e.g. vaccinations, scope services, DAAs)
  • Approximate weekly prescription volume
  • Approximate electronic prescription percentage
  • UTI and vaccination numbers Details of aged care supply or DAA services (if applicable)

You will also be asked about your pharmacy’s floor space and consulting rooms.  Refer to:

3. Workforce Composition

This section builds a picture of staffing levels, roles and workforce capacity.

You will need:

  • Staff headcount and FTE
  • Role breakdown
  • Hiring intentions over the next 12 months
  • Languages spoken by staff
  • Training levels or credentials (MMR/ACOP, assistant qualifications)

4. Business Operations

This section provides a high-level snapshot of how your pharmacy operates.

You will need:

  • Trading hours
  • Location type
  • Dispensing software
  • Estimated turnover and profit range
  • Percentage of turnover from dispensary and services

Financial information is collected in ranges and treated confidentially.

5. Guild Relationship & Engagement

This section explores how you access Guild information and your experience as a member.

No preparation is required for this section.

The information being gathered in the Census can be found across a variety of different digital systems and resources. Ensuring you are logged in before commencing your Census will ensure you can complete it in the shortest time possible.

You will need access to the following resources and systems.:

  • MyGuild
  • Dispensing/packing/clinical services software (e.g. MedAdvisor, Fred, Z, etc)
  • Payroll & rostering system
  • HR records
  • Financial software or accountant summary
  • Services Australia HPOS
  • PPA online
  • Your website or online store (if applicable)
  • Lease documents or floor plans
  • NDIS provider register

Privacy and data protection

Member privacy is our highest priority.

All Census data will be stored securely using up-to-date information security standards. Individual responses will not be reported in an identifiable way. Only aggregated insights will be used to support Guild advocacy, planning and reporting.

Members can participate with full confidence that their information is protected.

How to take part

  • Phone option
    Members have the option to register for a phone survey conducted through a Guild-owned member support centre.
  • Online option
    Complete the Census online by logging into MyGuild. Some sections will be pre-filled using data securely stored by the Guild and Members can review and update this pre-filled information if required and complete all remaining fields.
