APP2024 conference program revealed

8 November 2023

Organisers of next year’s APP conference at the Gold Coast have unveiled the program for the big event.

The theme for APP2024, which is being held from March 14 to March 17, is ‘Navigating the Future Together’.

Conference Convenor Kos Sclavos AM, says the program reflects the theme and that there will be something for everybody, whether they be pharmacists, pharmacy owners, pharmacy assistants, pharmacy students and industry representatives.

"What makes APP unique is that it offers a range of education streams to cover all aspects of community pharmacy including business, innovation and leadership, clinical pharmacy/product updates, rural pharmacy, cultural engagement, harm minimisation, and an Early Career Pharmacist stream,” Mr Sclavos said.

"The Opening Plenary will showcase and recognise awards of excellence including The Pharmacy of the Year Award, the MIMS/Guild Intern of the Year and the Pharmacy Guild of Australia/Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant of the Year.

"The Alan Russell Oration on Thursday afternoon will provide an update on where we are at with 8CPA and Friday morning's State of the Industry Panel is always a highlight – hearing from the industry's main players about what has been happening and what is on the radar.”

Other highlights will be the keynote speakers including 2019 Australian of the Year and Thai cave rescuer Dr Richard Harris and humanitarian Rabia Siddique.

"With the 8CPA negotiations planned to be concluded close to APP in March 2024 this is one year you must attend," Mr Sclavos said.
