Ms O'Byrne has been a dedicated advocate for community pharmacy, helping shape policy, champion better access to healthcare services, and strengthen the role of pharmacists as accessible and trusted frontline healthcare professionals across Tasmania and Australia.
As Tasmanian Branch Senior Vice President and National Councillor, Ms O'Byrne has been a respected voice for patients, pharmacists and pharmacy owners alike, advocating for reforms to improve health outcomes for Tasmanians.
Pharmacy Guild of Australia Tasmania Branch President Joe O’Malley paid tribute to Ms O'Byrne's service and dedication.
"Helen has been one of community pharmacy's most respected and influential leaders. Her commitment to patients, her profession and the future of healthcare has left an enduring mark on Tasmania and on community pharmacy nationally.
"Throughout her career, Helen has consistently put patients first. She has been a passionate advocate for ensuring Tasmanians can access timely, affordable healthcare through their local community pharmacy.
"On behalf of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia, I thank Helen for her outstanding contribution and wish her every success and happiness in retirement."
The Guild also welcomed Jack Muir Wilson as he takes over as Tasmanian Branch National Councillor. Mr Muir Wilson has already established himself as a committed advocate for community pharmacy and the patients it serves.
"Mr Muir Wilson brings vision and a deep commitment to patient care. He understands the vital role community pharmacies play in keeping Australians healthy and easing pressure on other parts of our healthcare system. This will be crucial as Tasmania continues to expand the range of services available through community pharmacies" Mr O’Malley said.
