APP for latest on COVID-19 vax

Date: 12 May 2021

Community pharmacists are often the first point of call for patients’ COVID-19 vaccine-related questions.

At APP next week, community pharmacy and the wider industry will hear the latest updates from leaders in charge of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

With the landscape constantly changing, attendees have a unique opportunity to get the latest COVID-19 vaccination rollout updates straight from:

  • The Hon Greg Hunt MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care
  • The Hon Mark Butler MP, Shadow Minister for Health and Aged Care
  • Queensland’s Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeannette Young

Kos Sclavos AM, APP Convenor, said that the industry must not miss Mr Hunt’s update at the opening plenary on Thursday 20 May.

“With the landscape constantly changing, attendees have a unique opportunity to get the latest COVID-19 vaccination rollout updates straight from the Federal Government,” he said.

“Immediately afterwards, attendees will also get to hear an update from the Mark Butler.

“Queensland’s Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeannette Young’s panel session is a must-see for advice on how to successfully execute an effective vaccine rollout in your pharmacy.”

A new session has been added to the program - Confidently answering your patient’s COVID-19 vaccine questions: thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome - to provide an update on the challenges of deploying a new large-scale COVID-19 vaccination program in Australia.

Leading expert and Director of Infectious Diseases at Mater Heath Services, Associate Professor Paul Griffin, will update attendees on how public perception and the perceived risk of clinical side effects, such as thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome can affect the success of mass-scale vaccine programs.

The program is also packed with post-COVID-19 updates around the Australian economy, the pharmacy market, consumers, rentals and the future of community pharmacy.

On Sunday, the TGA will be present to provide advice on how pharmacies can advertise COVID and meet their compliance requirements. The Guild’s National Manager Workplace Relations will also be part of this session to provide advice on how employers can support and engage with staff in relation to COVID vaccinations.

Attendees can book with confidence thanks to APP’s 100 per cent refund guarantee*. If you haven’t booked already, don’t miss out. Register today at appconference.com.
