The Pharmacy Connect conference for 2023 was declared a major success after it was held in Sydney from August 31 and concluded on September 2.

More than 1,300 pharmacy owners, pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, students and industry representatives gathered at the Hyatt Regency Sydney for the event.

It was officially opened on the Thursday night by New South Wales Premier Chris Minns who told delegates of his government’s intention to implement a full scope of practice model, based on the Far North Queensland example.

On Friday morning, Pharmacy Guild National President Professor Trent Twomey gave the opening plenary session speech at the Guild member’s breakfast.

He discussed the current and arising challenges and opportunities for community pharmacy, including full scope of practice and 60-day dispensing, and provided a strategic overview on the need for community pharmacy to plan and adjust to ensure pharmacy viability and job protection.

There were more than 55 exhibit stands at the conference creating plenty of opportunities for exhibitors to discuss their products and services with hundreds of delegates.

The next Pharmacy Connect event will be held in Sydney on September 5-7, 2024.
