Indigenous Health

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia (the Guild) recognises the important role community pharmacies play in improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples. Access to high-quality, culturally safe pharmacy services is essential in addressing health disparities and supporting the health and wellbeing of Indigenous communities.

The Guild is committed to ensuring community pharmacies have the resources and support needed to provide culturally appropriate care.

Indigenous Health Programs

Programs

Pharmacy Program Administrator (PPA) administers targeted programs and services aiming to support the quality use of medicines and provide culturally appropriate services for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The Remote Area Aboriginal Health Services (RAAHS) Program allows approved Aboriginal Health Services (AHS) in remote areas to provide eligible patients with free PBS medicines.

Health professionals can help Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australians get low-cost or free Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) medicines.

The Indigenous Dose Administration Aids (IDAA) Program is designed to assist Patients in the community who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to better manage their medicines, with the objective of avoiding medication misadventure and improving medication adherence.

First Nations Pharmacy Network (FNPN)
