Mr Douglas was presented with the award at a ceremony held on the 25th of July at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins Street.
The APA’s award recognises an outstanding pharmacist with excellent pharmacy and medication dispensing skills, strong interpersonal skills and a good reputation with patients.
Andrew Douglas is the Managing Director of Priceline Pharmacy in Yass, NSW. He has been working as a community pharmacist for almost 17 years. For Andrew, community pharmacy is a family business; his brother and father are also community pharmacists, and his father has been a pharmacist for over 50 years.
Pharmacy Guild National President Professor Trent Twomey congratulated Mr Douglas on his win and said Andrew embodied many of the wonderful attributes patients had come to experience through community pharmacy.
“Andrew exemplifies the best of community pharmacy and is an excellent role model for his staff and other healthcare practitioners in the area,” said Professor Twomey. “He has embraced regional community pharmacy life, is a valued and respected healthcare professional and a pillar of the community in Yass.
“Against tough competition for the award, Andrew’s experience and his commitment in putting in the extra effort for both his patients and local community have clearly come through to the APA,” Professor Twomey continued.
“Andrew has demonstrated some of the very best attributes of the pharmacy profession, and as a Guild, we are very proud of him.”
Professor Twomey also congratulated all other APA award winners from the night.
