Additional Rapid Antigen Tests to be soon available in Queensland community pharmacies

28 December 2021

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Queensland Branch, has reassured Queenslanders that half a million more Rapid Antigen Tests will soon be available in community pharmacies. The announcement came after Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s Labor Government said that Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) COVID-19 tests will no longer be required on day five day for travellers, and encouraged Queenslanders to continue utilising Rapid Antigen Tests

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Queensland President, Chris Owen said that though demand for Rapid Antigen Tests had rapidly grown since the borders opened on 17 December, the Guild had worked with suppliers to source further tests for Queensland patients.

“Supplier Arrotex Pharmaceuticals has worked closely with the Guild to source half a million tests,” said Mr. Owen, “they are being freighted as quickly as possible to Queensland.”

“The new tests will be available in Queensland community pharmacies from 6-7 January 2022 to provide Queensland patients with peace-of-mind testing at home.”

Mr. Owen thanked Arrotex for working diligently over the Christmas period to source these tests for Queensland community pharmacies and patients.

“Thank you also to the 1,200 community pharmacies across Queensland who have been working tirelessly this year, and particularly over the Christmas period, to provide primary healthcare to many patients.”

Mr. Owen urged anyone who has yet to be vaccinated to do so at their earliest convenience.
