The Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s Queensland Branch President, Chris Owen congratulated Sarah for her valuable contribution to community pharmacy in Australia.
“PATY was established to recognise pharmacy assistants who go above and beyond in assisting patients and are proactive in their careers,” said Mr Owen.
“Sarah has shown exceptional dedication to her role and to the pharmacy industry, which perfectly embodies the spirit of this award.”
Mr Owen also said, “I applaud Sarah for being recognised as Queensland’s leading pharmacy assistant.”
State winners receive access to exclusive training and development sessions, return flights and accommodation for the National Judging Workshop on 3 September in Sydney, complimentary registration to the 2025 Pharmacy Connect conference (3-5 September), and recognition in national industry publications. By participating in the National Finals, Sarah will be in the running to take home a $5,000 cash prize and other great rewards.
Award judges, Artie Kalogeropoulos and Daniel Shalhoub from AFT Pharmaceuticals, the award’s major sponsor, were also delighted with Sarah’s selection as the Queensland State Winner.
“It has been wonderful to see so many qualified pharmacy assistants participating in this year’s PATY judging,” shared Mr Kalogeropoulos and Mr Shalhoub. “We congratulate Sarah on being chosen as the winner and representative for Queensland at the National Finals.”
The PATY2025 National Winner and Glucojel Runner Up will be announced at the Pharmacy Connect conference Cocktail Party on Thursday 4 September 2025, which, for the first time, will take place aboard the Starship Sydney for a Sydney Harbour cruise.
This year the PATY workshops, judging, and winner announcement will take place at Pharmacy Connect. Previously, the Pharmacy Assistant National Conference hosted these activities, running parallel to Pharmacy Connect. However, this year Pharmacy Connect 2025 will offer a dedicated pharmacy assistant stream. This change will bring attendees from all areas of the pharmacy industry more closely together, while still offering opportunities for tailored learning.
"The program is being structured to ensure all attendees, from owners and executives to interns and pharmacy assistants, gain valuable professional development," said Mr Kos Sclavos AM, Pharmacy Connect conference convenor. "Our pharmacy assistant stream provides targeted skills development and career growth opportunities, reinforcing the important role they play in the sector."
Prospective delegates are encouraged to register for Pharmacy Connect 2025 ahead of Early Bird registration closing on 30 June. Pharmacy assistants can save $65 on Full Registration when they register with the Early Bird offer. Plus, through the month of June, register as a Full delegate and you’ll receive 50% off Pharmacy Assistant Full Registration. Book now.
