The data shows that in the week leading up to 8 March, a total of 81,000 people in Queensland were vaccinated.
The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Queensland Branch President, Chris Owen, said the figures reflected the huge contribution that community pharmacies had made since being brought into the vaccination program mid-last year.
“We have also hit a milestone in community pharmacy by reaching more than 6 million COVID-19 vaccines being delivered through community pharmacies across Australia,” he said.
“Of these, more than 1.22 million were delivered in Queensland.”
“This just shows how important community pharmacies have been in providing protection for patients and communities against COVID-19.”
“Since being brought into the vaccination program in July last year, community pharmacies have provided – and continue to provide – a pivotal element in helping to reach maximum national uptake of vaccines in Queensland.”
“Community pharmacies have been accessible, staying open later and on weekends, and providing vaccinations where people want them, and when they want them.”
“The strong figures in Queensland could not have been achieved without the availability of vaccines through community pharmacies.”
