The PATY2025 National Winner and Glucojel Runner Up were announced at the Pharmacy Connect conference Cocktail Party on Thursday 4 September, which took place on a Sydney Harbour cruise aboard the Starship Sydney.
This prestigious award celebrates excellence in community pharmacy by recognising pharmacy assistants who demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment to patient care within their communities.
Jessica stood out among the eight outstanding finalists representing their state/territory at the national workshop. Held during Pharmacy Connect 2025 at the Hyatt Regency Sydney, the national workshop was the culmination of months of preparation and competition. Finalists participated in a series of rigorous assessments that tested their expertise, leadership abilities, and contributions to the pharmacy industry.
Award judges, Artie Kalogeropoulos and Daniel Shalhoub from AFT Pharmaceuticals, said they were deeply impressed by the calibre of this year’s finalists.
“Selecting a winner gets harder each year,” said Mr Shalhoub. “The finalists’ talent and dedication keep raising the standard for winning. Jessica truly embodies what the PATY award represents. Congratulations to Jessica on this well-deserved recognition.”
“It was a difficult decision,” agreed Mr Kalogeropoulos. “We can all be inspired by Jessica’s passion, leadership, and commitment to patient care. It made her stand out in an exceptional line-up. We are excited to see what she does next.”
As the 2025 National Pharmacy Assistant of the Year, Jessica receives a $5,000 cash prize, along with travel and accommodation packages to attend Guild events to further her career and professional development.
Congratulations also go to Yasmin Elmawey from Hammondville Discount Pharmacy in New South Wales, who received the Glucojel Runner Up Award for 2025. This commendable achievement highlights Yasmin as one of the best in the industry.
The Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s National President, Professor Trent Twomey also extended his congratulations.
“PATY acknowledges the exceptional dedication to patient care and proactive commitment to professional development shown by pharmacy assistants,” said Professor Twomey. “And it is because of people like the PATY finalists that the future of community pharmacy is so bright. Their achievements serve as both inspiration for what is possible, and motivation to keep finding new and better ways to support our communities.”
Jessica and Yasmin should be incredibly proud of their achievements, as it highlights their significant contribution to community pharmacy.”
