Date: 26 August 2022

Pharmacy assistant Bronte Wheatcroft from Donnybrook Pharmacy has been chosen to represent Western Australia at the National Finals of the 2022 Pharmacy Guild of Australia/ Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award (PATY).

Bronte was selected from 10 State Finalists at the Western Australian workshop on 23 August, where participants demonstrated their pharmacy knowledge and showcased their skills in customer service and leadership.

Now in its 16th year, PATY is the premier award for pharmacy assistants in Australia.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s National President, Professor Trent Twomey congratulated Bronte for her valuable contribution to community pharmacy in Australia.

“In the past two-years of the COVID-19 pandemic, pharmacy assistants have demonstrated immense resilience during uncertain times coupled with an expansion of responsibilities, specifically with the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out,” Professor Twomey said.

“Bronte has not only demonstrated this resilience, she has gone above and beyond to help her customers get through the challenging times of COVID-19, and that is what this award is all about.”

“PATY was created to recognise pharmacy assistants who display a strong commitment to their work and the industry and I am extremely impressed with Bronte’s contribution to community pharmacy.”

“I congratulate Bronte for standing out as Western Australia’s top pharmacy assistant.

By participating in the National Finals, Bronte will be in the running to take home over $10,000 in prizes including a $5,000 cash prize, a training package, educational opportunities and other great rewards.

Award judge, Calvin MacKenzie from AFT Pharmaceuticals, the award’s major sponsor, was also delighted with Bronte’s selection as the Western Australia State Winner.

“Over the years, AFT Pharmaceuticals has demonstrated strong commitment to the support and recognition of excellence amongst our pharmacy assistants, so we are delighted and privileged to support the industry’s premier PATY award again in 2022,” Mr MacKenzie said.

“I congratulate Bronte for emerging as the winner and representative for Western Australia at the National Finals.”

In addition to the main award, PATY features the Glucojel Super Star Award, which recognises outstanding customer service amongst the PATY state finalists. Congratulations to Bianca Busby from St James Newstart Pharmacy, for taking out this year’s Glucojel Super Star Award for Western Australia.
