NAPSA Update: Wrapping up 2025 and preparing for a big year ahead

27 November 2025

Mia Avram - Acting National President, National Australian Pharmacy Students’ Association

As the academic year winds down and students across the country complete final exams, placements, and OSCEs, NAPSA is closing out 2025 with plenty of important work underway. While many of you take a well-earned break, your national body will be working behind the scenes, moving major projects forward and making sure everything is in place for a successful NAPSA Congress in the new year.

Implementation of our NAPSA 2030 strategic vision continues, with several major projects advancing through the final quarter of the year. Guided by student priorities, the Board has focused on building stronger branch support systems, refreshing operational frameworks, and expanding student-led initiatives that will carry into 2026.

NAPSA’s advocacy on placement poverty also remains active through the summer period. Launching a National Placement Poverty Survey on behalf of the Health Students Alliance, we continue to push for paid placements for pharmacy and allied health students.

The Australian Pharmacy Students’ Journal (APSJ) has also had a very busy end to the year, running the inaugural APSJ High Achievers Night, which saw almost 300 students across Australia come together to learn more about how the APSJ can support them in their research journeys. Submissions are still open for the APSJ’s upcoming Anniversary Celebratory Edition issue, which will be the 8th Issue, 80 years since the beginning of NAPSA. Learn more about making a submission to this special issue.

Lastly, planning for NAPSA Congress 2026 in Sydney is in the final stages, and we are looking forward to welcoming over 320 students and interns to the University of Sydney in January. NAPSA Congress 2026 is set to be the second biggest in NAPSA history, and we can’t wait to spend the week with our students, alumni and industry partners, celebrating our future pharmacists.

To our members and students across the country, congratulations on making it through another year! Whether you’re finishing your first semester or graduating into the profession, you deserve this time to rest, reconnect, and recharge. NAPSA will continue working behind the scenes over the summer to make 2026 a year filled with new opportunities, stronger advocacy, and even more support for our members. We can’t wait to share what comes next.
