Controlled Substances (Poisons) Regulations 2011 - amendment: RTPM implementation

From 1 November 2020 the Controlled Substances (Poisons) Regulations 2011 will include new record-keeping and reporting requirements for prescribers and pharmacists. This is a necessary first step to implement the SA Real-Time Prescription Monitoring system, ScriptCheckSA. A summary of the main changes, plus the settled variation regulations are attached.

If you prescribe or dispense monitored drugs*, these changes will affect you.

*monitored drug includes:

  1. any S8 poison;
  2. any S4 poison that is a benzodiazepine;
  3. any S4 poison that contains Codeine;
  4. any of the following S4 poisons:
    1. Gabapentin;
    2. Pregabalin;
    3. Quetiapine;
    4. Tramadol;
    5. Zolpidem;
    6. Zopiclone;
