A pharmacy assistant is often the first person you meet when you walk into the pharmacy. A big part of a pharmacy assistant’s role is to interact with customers and find out how the pharmacy can best meet their needs. Pharmacy assistants are responsible for a wide range of duties which can include accepting prescriptions; providing information on infant care, pharmacy only medicines, wound care, vitamin supplements and giving beauty advice.
Pharmacies have always played a role in keeping the community healthy. In recent years, this role has grown bigger and community pharmacies have become integral primary health care providers –a local destination where patients know they can access quality advice and a range of professional health services and programs.
Once working as a pharmacy assistant, there are opportunities to specialise in particular areas that interest you and further your career by completing additional training through SIR30116 Certificate III in Community Pharmacy and SIR40116 Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy. These areas can include dispensary assistant, vitamin consultant, merchandise and compliance coordinator, stock controller or retail pharmacy manager.
Guild Training has been training pharmacy assistants for over 20 years and our courses have been developed and refined to offer you the best experience and opportunity to gain employment within the community pharmacy industry.
A Guild issued qualification is associated with quality and excellence and is widely recognised within the pharmacy industry. Our trainers and assessors are highly qualified and experienced, as well as being accessible, engaging and great teachers. All have extensive pharmacy knowledge and have held a variety of roles in different community pharmacies.
