Educational requirements for Immunisation Provision
Immunisation Course is a one-off training
Please refer to the WA Department of Health Educational requirements for Immunisation Provision table.
An Immunisation Course provided by HESA, RTO, university, a course approved by the CEO of Department of Health or recognised by an equivalent Department of Health in an Australian State or Territory must be successfully completed as a one-off training prior to administration of vaccines.
Australasian College of Pharmacy offers approved Immunisation Courses.
COVID-19 Vaccination training is a one-off training

COVID-19 Vaccination training must be completed as a one-off training prior to administration of COVID-19 vaccines. SA Health provide an approved COVID-19 training course.
Pharmacists who have completed the original Commonwealth COVID-19 Vaccination training are NOT required to also complete the SA Health COVID-19 training.
CPR Certificate has 12 months expiry

CPR Certificate HLTAID009 needs to be current (12 months expiry) and must be renewed through a First Aid training provider.

First Aid Certificate has 3 years expiry
Pharmacist immunisers are required to complete First Aid training every 3 years to meet conditions of the Administration of Vaccines by Pharmacists SASA.
First Aid Certificate HLTAID011 needs to be renewed through a First Aid training provider.

ASCIA Anaphylaxis has 12 months expiry

The site to complete the training has changed in January 2025 and pharmacists are required to create an account on the new site to complete the training.
Pharmacists are required to complete the full course ASCIA Anaphylaxis e-training for health professionals annually.

Annual Immunisation Update Online Module has 12 months expiry

Pharmacist immunisers are required to complete the Immunisation Update module annually.
Influenza Online Module has 12 months expiry
Please refer to the WA Department of Health Educational requirements for Immunisation Provision table.
The Influenza module has been developed as an annual refresher to provide up-to-date influenza immunisation information.
Pharmacist immunisers are required to complete this module annually.
Cold chain management has 12 months expiry
Please refer to the WA Department of Health Educational requirements for Immunisation Provision table.
The Cold chain management module must be completed annually.
RSV Infant and Maternal Immunisation has 12 months expiry
Please refer to the WA Department of Health Educational requirements for Immunisation Provision table.
The RSV Infant and Maternal Immunisation module supports immunising pharmacists in administration of RSV vaccines to pregnant women and must be completed prior to administration of RSV vaccines and annually thereafter.
Review of the diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus vaccine preventable disease chapters in the Australian Immunisation Handbook (AIH) prior to participation in the WA Diphtheria outbreak vaccination program

Prior to administration of dTpa vaccines under the WA Diphtheria outbreak vaccination program, pharmacist immunisers are required to review of the diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus vaccine preventable disease chapters in the Australian Immunisation Handbook:
