Who should do this course?

• Pharmacy Assistants already working in Community Pharmacy
• People with previous retail or life experience currently employed in a Community Pharmacy
• SIR20116 - Certificate II in Community Pharmacy graduates wanting to continue their learning and development in Community Pharmacy

Students can learn:

• Comprehensive product knowledge and health information including cough and cold, allergies and vitamins and minerals
• Standard pharmacy operations including merchandising and display, stock control and marketing
• An opportunity to choose from specialised, tailored streams including:
  • Front of shop: build customer relationships and loyalty, receive and handle stock, control stock, supervise and support front line team members and more
  • Health: smoking cessation, recognising health body systems (new), baby and infant care, assist customers with first aid products and more
  • Dispensary: recognise health body systems (new), assist in dispensing prescriptions, maintain dispensary stock and administer dispensary computer systems and claims and more

Course information:

The SIR30116 - Certificate III in Community Pharmacy consists of 11 core units and 8 electives. This course can be tailored to suit your learning requirements and career goals. Your Guild Trainer will work with you to develop a training plan to meet your needs and the needs of your pharmacy. Most Pharmacy Assistants complete the course in less than 24 months.

As the SIR30116 - Certificate III in Community Pharmacy is a flexible course with rolling enrolments, you can start as soon as you are ready. There are no entry requirements to complete this qualification however you will need to be working in a Community Pharmacy for the duration of the course.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning is available for all qualifications. The RPL process acknowledges the skills and competencies gained from work experience, prior training and life experiences. Through RPL, competencies may be granted for specific units within community pharmacy qualifications, meaning some Pharmacy Assistants can finish their course earlier than expected.

How much will this qualification cost?

The cost of the course may be dependent on government funding. Under the New South Wales Government, User Choice funding is available for SIR30116 - Certificate III in Community Pharmacy. Eligible students can enrol for a subsidised price. Some students may come under concessional funding and pay a subsidised price.

User Choice funding for traineeships may also be available for new employees.

Full cost of course without government funding is $2,990 for member pharmacy and $3,890 for non-member pharmacy.
